People's Security Museum opens

(KPL) New People�s Security Museum was officially opened in Vientiane Capital, on 24 March, for public to welcome the upcoming 50th founding anniversary of public security force (5 April 1961-5 April 2011).

Colonel Somvang Thammasith who is in charge of museum construction project said that the museum is a value place for local people including government officials, military, policemen, students and others who want to see and learn about our history and achievements of the security force.

He added that the museum is an information centre of a long history of the Lao security forces, display a great contribution of the past senior revolutionary leaders, as well as current leaders and history of Lao People�s Revolutionary Party movement.

The construction of People�s Security Museum was a total worth of US$75.9 billion, which was a sole budget of Lao government.

�The construction works of People�s Security Museum has been undertaken for nine months, which started in June 2010 and completed this month.

The museum with four storeys is built on 9,888 square metres consisting of an office, a meeting room, a library, a computer room and three storeys are exhibition rooms.

Cut the ribbon to open the museum were Minister of Public Security Thongbanh Seng-aphone and Director of Dara Chalearn Construction Company, Mr. Bounchone Sengdara in the witnesses of officials concerned.
